I went all the way to Germany to shop fabric! A few weeks ago Sanne and I went on a trip to Karlsruhe. That is where the craft/fabric/quilt fair Nadelwelt is organized every year.

Here’s a video impression of our trip, my purchases and a super cool machine that I did a test run on.

All kinds of crafts

It was a super fun weekend away. We both really liked the fair. I do have to say that we are quilter, but we also like other crafts like embroidery, cross stitch and sewing clothing. If you’re just looking for a (modern) quilt fair, this might not be the fair for you. But if you’re interested in all kinds of crafting, it’s a lovely well organized fair.

Fabric shopping

Of course I did some fabric shopping. Do you even have enough fabrics? I picked out a few jersey fabrics, pretty pre cuts and I assembled a fat quarter bundle.

Check the video to see them all and hear my plans with them.

Started right away

I couldn’t wait to make something with the new fabrics. So I turned the shark jersey into a long sleeved dress for Ella using this free pattern Lena Dress.

And also the super soft cat fabric has been turned in to a hooded zipper sweater. Ella loves it!

Quilt show

I loved the quilts that were on display at Nadelwelt. A wonderful collection of round robins by the Much Modern Quilt Guild.

Also seeing the work by Lisa Hofmann-Maurer and Iva Steiner in person was so awesome!

I’m sharing their work in my video.

Next year?

It was quite a long drive from where we live. So I’m not sure we will be going again next year. But I’ll keep this one in mind to revisit some time in the future.

Byee!
Irene
