We have now made sections A to E. There is one section left, but we will first sew the sashing together.
Assemble the fabrics
All the measurements I’m going to mention here include 1/4 inch seam allowance.
Take the 1 x 5 1/2 pieces of background fabric that you cut on day 3.
Also take the 2 x 5 1/2 pieces that you cut from the colored fabrics on day 6 and 9.
Now we sew them into a strip. Alternate the colored and background pieces.
You will create a piece of 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch. Press all the seams open.
Whoops.. did I swap the pinks? That’s all right. As long as the green and pink (or orange and blue) are alternating.
For the winter edition it will look like this:
Cut to strips
Cut this piece into five strips of 8 1/2 x 1 inch.
Sew these strips into one long strip. We will set this aside till day 13.
Doesn’t that look happy?
We will use today’s gift during the assembly of the quilt top.
My seam allowance got a bit to wide. So only got 8 inch instead of 8 1/2 inch. Can I still use it and add an extra or longer bit at the end of the sashing? Or should I try to fix it.
No problem. I think that will do for the sashing!
Great, thank you.
Mine too.
