In today’s package you’ll find the first part of the pattern. Do you have any idea what this will be? No? Great! :D I’m trying to keep it a surprise for as long a I can.
Foundation Paper Piecing
The main technique we are using for this project is Foundation Paper Piecing, or FPP.
Are you new to this technique? Take a look at this video. I go over all the steps for FPP.
Want to learn even more? Check out my in depth course on Foundation Paper Piecing.
Prepare for tomorrow
You can go ahead and trace the first to sections of the pattern to tea bag paper. Or copy it to normal paper if you prefer that for foundation paper piecing.
Make sure to trace it twice if you’d like to make two items at once. There is enough fabric in the advent calendar to make the project twice.
Hi Irene, would it make sense, to do the second one mirrored? Sabine
Great question! Yes that would make sense with this design.
I am not acccurate enough in my tracing so photocopy to the rescue :) I folded down the top of the paper so it pattern would fit on 8.5″x11″ letter size paper. Planning to only make one of whatever it is we are making.Looking forward to 24 days of daily surprises.
That is a great solution, just sew in a way that works best for you. I’ll include the pdf pattern in the emails from now on. The first pattern pdf will be added to tomorrows email.
Hi Irene! Thanks for the tea paper, I have been wanting to try it, I have had a hard time trying to find it in the US. Thanks, can’t wait to see what this makes:)
Yay! Let me know how you like it after this project 😃
Got my pattern pieces traced! This is my first time using teabag paper since I can’t find it in the US..
Yayy!
Dear Irene,
I am so pleased that there is another FPP project in the Advent calendar. Would it perhaps be possible to upload the file here as a PDF again, just like last year? Then you could print it on thinner paper to work with.
I am so excited to see what it will be. Thank you for the great calendar.
Ah yes! Thank you for asking. I added the pdf pattern to tomorrows email. The next patterns will be added in the upcoming emails as well. Enjoy!

Hi Irene. Is the paper in Nr. 2 the famous tea bag paper?
Yes it is Monika! 😃
