Making a Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP) block with multiple sections can be a little challenging. Especially to get the points on the edges of the sections to match.
Here’s how you can pin the sections to improve your matching points.
At the bottom of this post you’ll find a video as well!
Step one – Pin perpendicular
Place the two sections right sides together.
Use pins to match up the points on both sections. First pin on both ends of the seam. And then pin though the points on the edge that you want to match up.
Make sure the pins are perpendicular to the sections before you move on to step two.
Step two – Flat pins
Now you can replace these pins by flat pins. Try not to shift the sections while pinning. Using long, thin pins can really help.
Step three – Sew!
Then all you got to do is sew! Open up the seam after sewing to see how you did. Did the points shift a little? Unpick your seam and try again, or accept it the way it is. Done is better then perfect sometimes!
Is it perfect? No, but it looks great to me!
Happy quilting!
