Last year I completely lost track of my WIPs. My #TackleThatWIP tracker was not up to date, my projects were all over the studio, it was pretty chaotic.

Over the last weeks I have been working again on some older projects. It gave me that feeling again of how good it feels to get some real progress on a quilt.

The bunny quilt is one of the quilts I have been working on in Q1

My goal for this year

So, I printed out a new tracker. And went ahead and filmed a new TTW video. It feels great to have an overview again of everything I’m working on. And somehow, I have the feeling that this will be the year that I can bring back that list to only a hand full of projects. That would be my goal!

A new addition to my WIP list, A bunny quilt for Ella. Aren’t these babies cute? (Pattern: Elizabeth Hartman, Fabrics: Tilda)

#TackleThatWIPQ1

Yes I know, it is a little late for a 2025 Q1 update. But better late then never right? I am going to use these blog posts to look back on the quarter that just ended, Jan-March. And look ahead to the next quarter and decide what I would like to work on.

If you want to join in and work on your WIPs again, go ahead and download the tracker. You can fill out the form below to be added to the #TackleThatWIP list. If you are already on the list you will have received the 2025 tracker in your inbox.

Giveaway

Every quarter I will be giving away a small box with goodies from the Sugaridoo Studio to someone who joined the #TackleThatWIP.

Just share in the comments what you have been working on or what you would like to work on for the next two months. Just thinking about your projects might help in getting started on them again.

Maybe you can pick one main project that will get your most attention this month?

I will pick a winner after I’m back from H+H Americas around the 12th of May. To have a change to win you will need to:

  • Be subscribed to the Tackle That WIP mailing list
  • Leave a comment below about your WIPs

Manx Blocks Quilt

My main project I would like to finish in Q2 would be the Manx quilt. It is so close to being finished!

Hand quilting those crosses on the back is such a fun thing to do. I only have a few seams left to sew. Let’s see if I can show you the finished quilt in two months.

The last week of June I’ll be back with a new blog post, with some new motivation to keep working on our WIPs together!

I want to work on completing the many quilt tops I have now that I have my quilt studio set up. I don’t have a main quilt to focus on at this time.

A dear friend who lives across the US from me just announced that she is going to be a grandmother. This was a total surprise to her and me. So I’m going to be working on a baby quilt BUT I want it to be an “I spy” quilt for toddler+ years. This has a story with it.. my sons are not having children but I have a huge container of juvenile novelty fabrics I’ve saved so now don’t have a use so I’ll be digging through that.

Thanks for the new tracker and the video update Irene. This year I have put a lot of effort into finishing my WIPs. So far, I’ve completed 9 quilts, 3 quilt tops, and 1 table runner. Now, I’m working on making blocks for two WIPs that have been cut out for 2 years or more. I’m also preparing the backing fabrics for the next 3 quilt tops/WIPs on my list.

Dear Irene, I’m so happy about the new tracker. This year I’ve organized my sewing space new and looked through fabrics in my stash. I want to finish a baby quilt (needs only binding), a quilt for my husband (needs beeing quilted), a quilt for our caravan (halfway quilted already) and One Two Tree (halfway pieced already). I hopefully use a lot of stash fabrics and kits before I start new Quilts with fabrics still here (dino confetti, Elizabeth’ easter bunnys, between the lines…). Have a nice time and a lot inspirations in America

Hello Irene, the first time I saw your WIP idea on YouTube, I had made one that works for me. I’ve a binder with each quilt patter and its progress, but to have a WIP color sheet that is genial. Here are my projects: 2 Quilts completed (2025), 3 tops done(2024), 2 in progress, and 5 new ones! Loves your bunnies blocks!

Thanks Irene. I really need a tracker to get my WIPs organized. I want to finish my Tula Pink Quilt, my Puffy Quilt and zippy clutch bags for Christmas. Oh, I really want to get fabric letters for the wall completed for my granddaughters and their new room!

What is currently on my design board is the 1st Sugaridoo Bernina QAL and the Between the Lines QAL. I have 3 or 4 rows done of each and I have been alternating them. Those are currently my main priority.

I’m long arm quilting my Between the Lines quilt, so that’ll be my first WIP, then on to about 6 quilt tops to finish!

I just saw your update about the #TackleThatWIP2025 challenge. It’s what I need to help my outrageous amount of quilting projects under control. This couldn’t be better timed. I’ve not paid much attention to my quilting for the last year as I was pretty overwhelmed by cleaning out the house I grew up in. Now it’s time to get my own home back in order and that includes getting my quilting life back in order and choosing which projects will get priority status. First will be piecing a backing for my Summer in the Garden quilt. A friend offered to long arm a quilt for me after I had cleaned and serviced a vintage machine she had recently purchased.
