As I’m designing the pattern and writing these blog posts, I’m so curious as when you will guess what we will be making. Maybe these sections of the pattern will give it away.

Do share your ideas of what we’re making in the comments. How would you puzzle these sections together?

Save some fabric for later

Before you start sewing on this section we need to cut two strips.

Cut a strip of 2 x 5 1/2 inch (including seam allowance) from the dark and medium fabric you received today.

This is for one project, if you are making two at the time, cut a total of four strips. Set these aside for later.

Back to the pattern

Today we make section D and E.

You will find a light, medium and dark fabric in today’s package.

  • Use the light fabric for piece D1 and E2,
  • E1 will be the medium fabric,
  • E3 will be the dark fabric from today’s package and
  • D4 will be the dark fabric from day 3.

You have received the digital version of the pattern in your inbox.

And here are the finished sections in Winter and Christmas colors.

See you in two days

I’ll be back on the blog on day 11 with new instructions.

I’m so excited to start sewing Part 3! I have a question about the fabrics, I just LOVE the foil printed ones!!! What line are they from? Where can I get them, please? 🥰

Hallo Irene, gezien de maten denk ik aan een placemat. Leuk dat je er 2 kan maken! Misschien is het iets anders, ook leuk natuurlijk. We gaan het zien. Ben benieuwd! Ik heb er zin in 😁

Hi Irene, thank you again for the wonderful fabrics today. I don’t have any ideal, what we are making :-) Houses? A snowman? Presents? And what a project: a pillow, placemat, a wall hangig quilt? It will be a surprise…

I’m having a fun time with the advent calendar, thank you so much for all the thought and effort that went into it.

I have absolutely no idea what I am making.

Hoi!
Ik denk dat het placemats worden en misschien is het patroon een naaimachine. Ik vind het weer super om mee te doen en ben blij dat je ook dit jaar zo’n mooie/leuke advent kalender hebt gemaakt! Dank je wel!

I think todays sewing looks like a feather. Maybe WE are going to make the nutcracker?

Irene,
What do you mean by:Cut a strip of 2 x 5 1/2 inch (including seam allowance)
Do I have to adjust a seam allowance or is the seam allowance already included in the 2×5 1/2?

Hi Irene, This is my first sewing advent ever and I am really enjoying it. I get up very early (4-5am) sip my coffee and sometimes tea 😉thank-you, listen to Christmas music and sew. My daughter(24with 6&4yr boys) is going through chemo and Lord knows I needed this bit of solace each morning before I start my day. It is like a little hug each morning. Of course I’ve been working on Christmas presents too and my sewing room is better than any therapy session.
But the advent gift starts my day.
