Here is part two of the pattern. Together with the fabrics needed for section C.
Save some fabric for later
Before you start sewing on this section we need to cut two strips.
Cut a strip of 2 x 5 1/2 inch (including seam allowance) from the dark and medium fabric you received today. For the Winter version these will be yellow/orange and for the Christmas version these will be green.
This is for one project. If you are making two at the time, double the amount. Set these aside for later.
What goes where
For both the Christmas and the winter version you will have a dark, medium and light fabric in today’s package.
- We will use the darkest fabric for piece C13.
- The medium fabric will be used in C2, 4, 6, 8 and C10.
- The light fabric will be for piece C1, 3, 5, 7 and C9.
- The off white fabric will be used for the other pieces, C11, 12, 14, 15 and C16.
The fabrics you found in your package today might vary slightly from the image you see here. Just make sure that the long piece is made in the darkest fabric and you’ll ll good.
Tomorrow
You can use the next few days to catch up with the sewing. Day 7 will hold a gift for you, we won’t be using that for the advent project.
I’ll see you back on the blog on day 8 with a little intermezzo.
The pattern of today looks like a toothbrush :-) I’m very excited, what it will be im the end! Wonderful fabrics today…thank you!
Haha! Now I also see a toothbrush 😄🪥
I love the winter colors! I’m really enjoying the fun of the advent calendar. 😊 Thanks, Irene, for all the hard work that must have went into putting this all together. 💕
You’re very welcome Jody! It’s such a joy to be able to do such an advent project togetger with all of you 🥰
The instructions say C1 is light fabric but in the finished picture for winter edition C1 is medium, assuming it is not going to matter in the end which is which but may wait until tomorrow to sew in case someone can let me know which way is correct. Thanks
It’s because when you sew it the image is mirrored. C1 is the light fabric.
Of course, I knew that (honest), just forgot. Thanks for reminder :)
Thanks Rebekah! Yes it’s indeed the mirror image of the pattern 😄
How much does it make a difference in the final pattern if the light and medium colors are reversed? 😬
No difference at all! That will all look great. If you’re making two it would be fun to do one like this and one with light and medium reversed.
is orange medium and yellow light?
an the “colored” dark? quite confused about what fabric i need for the two strips in the begin of the explanation.
Yes, yellow is light, lighter orange is medium and the darker orange print is dark. :) You will use the medium (orange) and dark orange (print) for the two strips that need to be set aside. :)
That’s correct thanks Jody 👍
i see more a (netherlands coloured) garden fence than a toothbrush :-))
